The birth of Alfacig


I was in despair to see my two sons smoke. I'd explained time and time again that with the cigarettes came death but no matter what I said I couldn't get them to listen to reason.

 

One day during a business trip to China I saw an electronic cigarette. The concept was fantastic but I found the product somehow incomplete. It was missing something that would make the user forget about real cigarettes, it was missing out on the action of lighting the cigarette with a lighter.

 

I was convinced that by imitating to perfection the whole act of smoking a cigarette the smoker would forget about real cigarettes without really noticing.

 

Being a qualified and experienced engineer (CNAM), it was not difficult for me to make an electronic cigarette with a heat detector which would become active upon the application of a lighter flame. I equally added a timer that switched the cigarette to passive mode after a period of 5 minutes. This time corresponds approximately to the length of time taken to smoke a real cigarette.

 

I gave some prototypes to my two sons to test and the results surpassed my hopes. Giving up smoking became surprisingly easy. As soon as they felt the need for a cigarette they "lit" their electronic cigarette and "smoked" for 5 minutes. The urge to smoke could be satisfied by "lighting" this electronic cigarette.

 

This new electronic cigarette became a real substitute. I therefore filed a patent (WO 2007/077167) and named this cigarette substitute, Alfacig.

 

Now I sell this electronic cigarette and maybe it will help you achieve the same result as my sons. It certainly motivated them and they were keen to show it to their friends. But one shouldn't forget that the major motivation is the preservation of life, smoking kills as you know and is clearly marked on your packets of cigarettes.
